Spiritual Direction

for Individuals

People begin the spiritual direction process when they decide to more intentionally engage with Ultimate Reality.

We start with an initial conversation to explore your interest in Spiritual Direction. This conversation helps you get to know me better and determine if there is a good fit. This initial consultation is free.

After determining that there is a good fit, the process continues with a longer discovery session. It helps me better understand you, your context, and your particular situation.

Spiritual Direction usually takes the form of monthly meetings that last one hour.

During these sessions, we examine together the experiences, challenges, and struggles you bring in light of your beliefs, aspirations, and faith.

We will look for the footprint of the Divine in your life, work, and organization and discuss ways that you might deepen your ability to love and serve God, yourself, and others.

The number of sessions depend upon what best fits your needs and situation. An open-ended length of time allows one’s spiritual life to unfold and deepen at its own pace. A set amount of time may be best if you’re facing a deadline or need to make a decision in the context of external demands.

We can meet virtually or in-person, depending upon your location and preferences.

Even after we begin meeting, you are free to discontinue at any time, without penalty, whether you have chosen to meet for a set amount or an open-ended length of time.

We offer a contemplative, incarnational approach to spiritual direction. This means that we take a posture of waiting and watching for signs of divine direction in your inward and outward life.

You may want to pay attention to your dreams, to explore prayer or to develop a different spiritual practice. You might also talk about your desire for greater meaning, concerns about suffering or feeling called to a higher purpose.

Spiritual Direction

for Organizations

Businesses and organizations begin the spiritual direction process when a leader or leadership team seeks to more fully recognize the presence and guidance of Spirit in the context of their business or organization.

We start with a complementary conversation that explores the leader(s) interest in spiritual direction for their organization. This meeting helps you get to know me better and determine if there is a good fit.

After establishing fit, we proceed with a longer discovery session. This session helps me better understand your purposes, your organization, and its particular situation.

We encourage you to keep one of two frameworks in mind as you integrate spirituality or faith into your business or organization. These frameworks provide a common language and set of avenues for consideration.

Therefore, leaders are encouraged to choose a framework that best fits the culture and environment of their enterprise (see below)

Spiritual Direction for Organizations takes the form of monthly meetings that last one hour.

Spiritual direction for organizations helps leaders and leadership teams listen to the voice of the Divine as they work to achieve their goals and work through their challenges.

Spiritual Direction for Organizations serves to foster the Spirit’s participation in:

  1. the development of core purposes
  2. mission accomplishment
  3. building a healthy organizational culture

and encourages leaders to cultivate spiritual leadership and workplace spirituality.

The number of sessions depend upon your needs and situation. An open-ended length of time allows the business or organization’s spiritual life to unfold and deepen at its own pace. A set amount of time may be best if you’re facing a deadline or need to make a decision in the context of external demands.

We can meet virtually or in-person, depending upon your location and preferences.

Organizational Spiritual Formation Frameworks

Spiritual-but-not-Religious Framework

This model of workplace spirituality is useful for businesses and organizations that are comfortable talking about purpose or spirituality, but conversations about faith and religion are difficult.

The outer ring symbolizes the organizational context, while the inner ring symbolizes the experience of individuals.

The three wedges represent the three dimensions of workplace spirituality.

Scholarship has demonstrated the reliability of these dimensions for individuals and developed them for organizations.1 2

Our services help individuals and organizations develop them more fully.

Faith-based Framework

This framework is useful for faith-based and faith-friendly businesses and organizations. Its language is consistent with the Judaeo-Christian traditions.

It helps organization understand how to develop the inward life of their organization, align with God’s purposes and recognize the guidance of the Spirit.

This framework aligns with the model above, as the colors demonstrate. The blue and red areas shown here are combined in the previous model and shown there as purple.

This framework includes the role of the Holy Spirit in the workplace, and  presumes that the quality of human relationships affects the Spirit’s ability to transform daily reality.
